Valentine’s Day jewellery fails for one boring reason: size. A ring bought in the wrong size is a return; a bracelet with a fixed clasp is a guess; a necklace that sits wrong is a disappointment the recipient will be polite about. The fix is to buy pieces that adjust — and to order by 25 January so the parcel is not the thing you are waiting for on the 14th.
Order timing
| Order by | Destination |
|---|---|
| 25 January | US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia — comfortable margin |
| 31 January | Same — last realistic date for 14 February |
| 3 February | Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Korea |
| After 5 February | Choose a desk piece or plan for a late gift, and say so |
Sizing-safe gifts, in order of safety
1. An adjustable bracelet
Our bracelets use a sliding cord covering roughly 15–19 cm, which fits most adult wrists without a measurement. This is the single best Valentine’s category: no size, no metal allergy question, no clasp to break. A two-stone strand in rose quartz and amethyst reads as a couple without being literal. Solin is the example.
2. A necklace with an extender
Length is the only variable that matters, and an extender covers it. A collarbone-length pendant flatters almost everyone; a long pendant depends on height and neckline. If you are unsure, choose short. Stilldrop sits in that range.
3. Earrings, if you know they have pierced ears
Do not assume. If you do know, studs are safer than drops: weight is the usual reason earrings get left in a drawer.
4. A desk piece
Not romantic in the conventional sense, and that is why it works for couples who have been together long enough to be tired of hearts. A small carved animal in rose quartz lives on a monitor stand and gets looked at daily. See the Crystal Buddies guide.
What to avoid on 14 February
- Rings, unless you know the size. An adjustable band is a workaround, not a solution — it reads as “I did not want to ask”.
- Anything that implies a promise you have not discussed. A heart-shaped stone is fine; a matched pair presented as a commitment is a conversation, not a gift.
- Bright dyed pinks. Natural rose quartz is milky and quiet. The bubblegum strands sold cheaply in February are usually dyed and look it under restaurant lighting.
- Last-minute upgrades. Paying for a faster courier you cannot actually get is worse than ordering early and saying nothing.
The card matters more than the stone
Most of what makes a Valentine’s gift land is the sentence that goes with it. We will write your message on the card and leave the price off, whether you ship to yourself or directly to them. If you are stuck: name the reason you chose the stone rather than describing the stone. “This is the colour of the jumper you wear every week” works. “Rose quartz is the stone of love” does not.
If you are buying for a man
Skip the pink. Tiger’s eye, smoky quartz, obsidian and rutilated quartz all read as jewellery rather than as a gesture, and all four look right at 10–12 mm. The most common mistake is buying a small, delicate strand for someone who wears a 42 mm watch — scale should match. Tri-Tiger Ward and Midnight Veil are sized for that.
Questions people ask
Is rose quartz too obvious a Valentine’s gift?
Only if it is the whole idea. Pair it with something specific to the person — a stone that matches what they actually wear, a note that names the reason — and the cliché disappears.
Can I order now and have it arrive on the 14th?
We dispatch within two business days and transit runs 7–21 days. Order by 31 January for the best chance; we cannot hold parcels to a delivery date.
Do you include a price?
No invoice goes in the parcel when you mark it as a gift in the order notes, and the card carries only your message.
What if they do not like it?
Unworn pieces can be returned within seven days in original packaging. Adjustable cords mean the common sizing problem mostly does not come up.
The meanings described here are cultural associations, not medical claims. Crystal jewellery is worn as a reminder of an intention; it does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition.
